There are contingent firms and there are retained firms. We offer more commitment than contingency firms and more flexibility than retained firms. And we get the results

Contingency searches. Maybe you haven't worked with us before. Sometimes trust needs to be built. So with our contingency placements, we give you more than other firms. We give you commitment. Most legal search firms are members of the NALSC and subscribe to their "Code of Ethics". We find this code less than "ethical". Here's how it reads:

"No search firm shall recruit any attorney from the office of an employer in which it has made a placement for a six-month period following that placement, unless the search firm reasonably believes such a restriction is not required by the employer." 

In other words, 181 days after you've paid a legal firm $20 - $100K+, they can begin recruiting attorneys out of your office again. Worse, ONE DAY after collecting that fee, they can begin recruiting attorneys from other offices of your firm or company. This is not what we call "Ethics". Or commitment.

When you pay Shelton & Steele the fee as agreed for a placement, no one from our firm will approach anyone in any office of your firm or company for a minimum of two years.  You won't find that kind of commitment in the twenty largest legal search firms in America.
We also offer the most cost-effective and flexible retained searches in the industry. Our fee for retained searches is twenty percent. After the initial retainer, you owe nothing further until you have hired the attorney you were seeking through us. We don't penalize you for finding the right person through your own network. If you fill the position on your own, you can transfer our retainer to another search. And while we're working for you, we're working only for you. We do not perform identical retained searches in the same state. So if we're performing a search for a patent partner in California on your behalf, we do not accept a contract for a patent partner in that state until your search has been filled. You won't find that kind of flexibility and commitment in other legal search firms.

Finally, we get results. And we guarantee those results twice as long as other legal search firms. While other firms offer a six month guarantee, at Shelton & Steele the guarantee on retained search is for a full year. We do the job right.
